In this Phase II SBIR proposal, Orora Design Technologies proposes to develop a retargetable design kit for radiation-hardened high-performance A/D converters. In Phase I of the project, Orora demonstrated progress on embedding the design for the major blocks in to design templates, modeling using behavioral models, and on incorporating radiation modeling. Orora believes that automation provided through optimization, innovative circuit techniques, and accurate behavioral modeling hold the key to enabling low-cost rapid prototyping of critical analog and mixed-signal functions. In the Phase II work, Orora proposes to develop an A/D design kit for pipelined A/D converters. The kit will enable automated design and generation of devices, but will stop short of automating the final layout. The kit will also support mixed-level behavioral modeling and will incorporate radiation event simulation using techniques being developed in other complementary projects. The template design will support up to 12-bit resolution at 100 MSPS nd will target low power architectures and designs.
