Abstract:

A flexible detonation chamber will be constructed within a calorimeter to measure the contribution to overall energy-release by the surface energy of nanophase metal particles. The chamber will ultimately be modified to allow various diagnostics to allow the exploration of the kinetic foundation of the increased impulsive energy release of such small particles.
