Title:
A Low Noise Tunable Wavelength Laser for Fiber Optic Sensor Systems
Agency / Branch:
DOD / NAVY
Contract:
N00024-09-C-4153
Award Amount:
$599,991.00
Abstract:
In Phase I Princeton Optronics investigated the development of a tunable diode pumped solid-state laser with low phase noise and low intensity noise to meet the Navy''s requirements for applications in towed array and other sensors. The results showed conclusively that this technology is ideally suited to meeting these requirements. In Phase II Princeton Optronics will develop prototypes with much improved performance over the Phase I results. The laser would be tunable over the wavelength range of the Navy''s interest. At the end on the program the laser would be available for the Navy''s evaluation and testing. In the proposed Option I the design will be improved to build rugged prototypes along with portable control systems for system testing. These would be tested, qualified and shipped to the Navy or the systems integration company for their testing.
