Abstract:
THIS PROPOSAL IS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF VERY HIGH FRAME RATE TELEVISION TYPE IMAGE SENSORS APPLICABLE TO CAPTURING RAPID MECHANICAL MOTION AND TRANSIENT PHOTOMETRI PHENOMENA. THE REQUIREMENT IS FOR AN IMAGE SENSOR SYSTEM CAPABLE OF CAPTURING 100 TO 1000 FRAMES AT A RATE IN THE ORDER OF 1,000,000 FRAMES PER SECOND WITH AN IMAGE FORMAT OF 500X500 PIXELS. IN THE PHASE I STUDY IMAGE SENSOR CONCEPTS WILL BE STUDIED THAT ACQUIRE AND STORE THE IMAGES IN THE IMAGE SENSOR STRUCTURE SUCH THAT THE READOUT AND DATA ACQUISITION CAN BE AT MODERATE DATA RATES COMPATIBLE WITH INEXPENSIVE DIGITAL DATA SYSTEMS.
