A Large, High Speed Photodetector for Acoustooptic Signal Processing

Special acoustooptic (AO) signal processors require single photodectector elements having large dimensions, very short response times, and large dynamic range. Conventional AO detector arrays cannot provide the bandwidth needed in this application. Q-DOT proposes to investigate the application of new silicon-on-insulator processes to construct a distributed detector array to meet these unusual performance requirements.
