Abstract

In order to handle extremely large amount of airborne intelligence surveillance & reconnaissance (AISR) data, command & control information at high data rate, and large number of communication channels in support of many aircrafts and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), future military communication satellites will require extremely wide bandwidth capabilities. Millimeter-wave spectrum, specifically V- and W-bands, offers an ideal solution for such applications. The proposed program is aimed at the development of high power, high efficiency power combiners for combining several high power TWTs or MPMs to achieve power output greater than 300 W. Other key performance goals include insertion loss <0.3 dB, isolation >30 dB, phase balance <+/- 1 degree, and bandwidth >10 GHz.
