Abstract:
The objective of this proposal is to develop dual-use, real-time simulation technologies that leverage Department of Defense (DoD) High Level Architecture (HLA) concepts to enable advanced technology demonstrations to be conducted in a laboratory generated synthetic battlespace. Radiance proposes to integrate the Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) Threatlab with the Integrated Demonstrations and Applications Laboratory (IDAL) to achieve the goal of this research. The AFRL Threatlab is a high fidelity, real-time threat representation facility consisting of multiple RTSS models, analytical models, and experiment generation and analysis tools. It provides a synthetic battlespace representing foreign air defense networks. The IDAL's primary mission is to replicate electronic-warfare (EW) scenarios in a synthetic battlespace to aid in the development of new EW and sensor systems. The IDAL makes extensive use of man-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop simulators to achieve the goals of their customers. By combining these two laboratories the IDAL can achieve a level of fidelity previously unattainable.
