Abstract:
The proposed Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II effort will complete the development of a COTS simplification methodology and associated toolset whose aim is to reduce the time and effort involved in maintaining COTS software products. To accomplish this goal, the COTS simplifier will identify and eliminate dead code, unwanted behaviors and malicious code from COTS products. As part of this effort, the developer will generate prototype COTS simplifier toolset and use it to conduct feasibility demonstrations on pilot projects. Feedback from use of this prototype on pilots will be used to refine COTS simplifier method and toolset and ready it for potential release and commercialization. This Phase II effort will verify the utility, scalability and effectiveness of the COTS simplifier methods and toolset under realistic operating conditions. It will also scope the market for products and services by engaging potential users who are interested in finding ways to cut their COTS software maintenance costs.Small Business Information at Submission:REIFER CONSULTANTS, INC.
