Abstract:
The overall goal is to develop a marketable product in the form of a computer based methodology will be developed and validated in Phase I. The development will require innovative R&D to formulate a pragmatic mechanism-based (mechanistic) modeling framework which will later form the basis for a more comprehensive methodology. The present proposal is to develop and assess the feasibility of an innovative, fundametally sound, and pragmatic mechanistic approach which RAI has formulated. An important part of our approach involves destructive as well as non-destructive elavuation (NDE) of OTPC test samples to identify and quanify damage. To ensure that effort leads to a product which is directly useful (and, therefore, marketable) RAI proposes to work in close collaboration will Allied Signal Aerospace in addressing their immediate interest in OTPC technology relevant to an IHPTET impeller design. However, the proposed product will be immediately and directly marketable to commercial aerospace and automotive industries, and to stationary gas turbine engine and large engine manufactureres.
