We propose to design an eddy-current probe testing station, built aronnd a PC running Interactive Systems Carp. UNIX (ISC UNIX). The testing station will provide a quantitative evaluation of eddy-current probe perform aJice ? thereby improving the accuracy and reha,bility of eddy-current inspection. The station will consist of a model foi probe-flaw interactions, a data acqmsition system, and a. user interface. The model and data acqmsition system already exist, and have been tested aJid validated through pievions work at Sabbagh Associates. The user inteJa.ce will be based upon the popular X Windows system: Phase I of the project consists of getting most of the softwaie runmng on an 80386 or 80486 computer running ISC UNIX and designing the complete system.
