Title:
Advanced Capacitance Development for Marxed Modulators
Agency:
DOE
Contract:
DE-FG02-04ER84064
Award Amount:
$99,999.00
Abstract:
76250-This project will develop advanced wound dielectric and ceramic capacitors that will subsequently improve the capability of Marxed Modulators, thereby addressing concerns related to klystron drivers for of the Next Generation Linear Collider. In Phase I, advanced wound dielectric and ceramic capacitors will be designed and fabricated pursuant to specifications requisite to modulator designs for crucial Next Linear Collider applications. The capacitors will be integrated into Next Linear Collider scaled modulators. Models and experiments will be employed to validate both capacitor and modulator performance. Potential issues will be evaluated, and a Phase II plan will be established. Commercial Applications and Other Benefits as described by the awardee: The market potential for advanced capacitors and modulators includes both military applications (e.g., directed energy weapons, high power microwaves, high power lasers, electromagnetic guns and launchers, and electron beam accelerators) and commercial applications (e.g., radar, utilities, high speed rail).
