Abstract

A NOVEL APPLICATION OF CURRENT REAL-TIME IMAGING SYSTEM TECHNOLOGIES IS PROPOSED THAT WILL PROMOTE THE WIDESPREAD UTILIZATION OF ULTRA HIGH RESOLUTION DUAL ENERGY VARIABLE FOCUS TOMOGRAPHIC AND OTHER 3-D IMAGING SYSTEMS IN THE FIELDS OF NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING AND EVALUATION BY SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCING THE PHYSICAL SIZE, COST AND COMPLEXITY ASSOCIATED WITH CURRENTLY AVAILABLE TOMOGRAPHIC SYSTEMS. DURING PHASE I OF THIS PROGRAM, KEY PERFORMANCE PARAMETERS FOR UTILIZATION OF A FLUOROSCOPIC SCREEN AND CAMERA ARRANGEMENT AS A DETECTOR ARRAY WILL BE DEFINED. A FLUOROSCOPIC SCREEN AND CAMERA WILL BE MATED WITH A HIGH RESOLUTION TOMOGRAPHIC SCANNER, AND EXPERIMENTS AND ANALYSIS WILL BE PERFORMED TO EVALUATE THE FEASIBILITY OF THE APPROACH.
