A Unified Comprehensive Intelligent Engine Monitoring System
Phone: (602) 752-7909
The firm proposes to conduct a program of research on real-time engine health monitoring (EHM) system for gas turbine engines. The proposed system is motivated by several factors: 1) effective monitoring improves engine performance and operability, 2) current engine monitoring field is fragmented and it needs standardization, 3) effective monioring requires advanced modeling and information processing techniques, 4) the trend towards on-condition maintenance pushes monitoring capabilities. The objectives of the proposed program are: 1) to develop a real-time monitoring capability for gas turbine engines, 2) to demonstrate the capability to: (a) track performance variations, (b) monitor component health, and (c) predict creep and fatigue life and the life consumption of critical parts. A proof-of-concept demonstration based on simulation will be conducted in Phase I. The detailed development and prototype testing will be conducted in Phase II.
