The primary objective of the US NavyÂ¿Â¿s Mid-air CollisionAvoidance System (MCAS) Phase I Program is to provide a CockpitDisplay of Traffic Information (CDTI) for Navy tactical aircraftand helicopters using Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast(ADS-B). This capability is to be fielded by BAE SystemsIncorporated through the modification of the Common IdentifyFriend or Foe (IFF) Digital Transponder (CXP).During the proposed Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR)Phase II program, the Sensis Corporation will provide a TrafficInformation Services Â¿V Broadcast (TIS-B) Ground System thatdelivers SA data via a 1090 MHz communication link to theCXP-equipped platforms at the Chesapeake Naval Test Range inMaryland. Sensis shall fuse data received from: (1) varioussurveillance radars; (2) the Patuxent River Multistatic DependentSurveillance (MDS) surveillance system that Sensis is currentlyinstalling for DynCorp at the Atlantic Test Range; and (3) Mode SADS-B data received from other equipped aircraft. Sensis shallthen filter ADS-B equipped aircraft from the fused data and thenuplink the SA data to the CXP-equipped platforms as ADS-B DF17messages.The Sensis-proposed SBIR Phase II effort is that required todesign, provide, and test hardware and software to achieve theTIS-B Ground System capability described above.
