Abstract:
We propose to develop a novel hybrid circuit approach combining CMOS and two terminal crosspoint nanodevices with a novel interface consisting of an array of pins with nanometer scale tips. Our CMOL approach will allow the fabrication of ultra-dense integrated circuits (up to 10^12 active devices per cm2) for advanced computing (up to 10^20 operation per cm2 per second), information storage and sensing applications. BENEFIT: We believe that the development of the CMOL integrated circuits (even of a very modest integration scale) will provide a critical boost to the industrial perception of this prospective electronic technology which may eventually revolutionize virtually all microelectronics.
