Abstract

SI2 Technologies, Inc. (SI2) proposes an innovative approach to manufacturing multifunctional conformal electronics for advanced aircraft. Our approach is to integrate SI2's Direct Write materials and manufacturing technology with system design tofabricate multifunctional structures that not only meet the structural and electronic system requirements, but enable the electronics to be easily repaired and upgraded as necessary. The technology is applicable to a wide variety of electrical systems, including communication and phased array antennas, and structural locations, such as wings and fuselage. Multifunctional conformal electronic structures will provide a number of benefits to both military and commercial aircraft such as increased range, payload, fuel efficiency and loiter time. Application of the technology may be extended to other markets such as the automotive and consumer electronics industries.
