'High Performance Microthrusters for Microsatellites
Agency / Branch:
DOD / USAF
Contract:
F49620-02-C-0105
Award Amount:
$499,993.00
Abstract:
The Phase I effort demonstrated viability of developing a new chemical propulsion system on a scale that is suitable for microsatellites. A preliminary micropropulsion system complete with a high Isp propellant, catalyst, combustion chamber, and exhaustnozzle was outlined, and component materials were identified. In the Phase II program Sienna Technologies, Inc., and the University of Washington propose to characterize the proposed propellants, to design and fabricate microthrusters, and to conduct thrust tests in preparation for implementation in microsatellites.
