Abstract:
Unlocking the vast resources represented by models and the domain knowledge they contain, and facilitating greater reuse of simulations based on those models, is of paramount importance to the DoD. The DoD has proposed the High Level Architecture (HLA) as a means to achieve reuse by enabling the federation of disparate simulations. To demonstrate the broader value of the HLA, SPS is proposing an innovative federation of DoD and commercial domain simulations. The federation, called Simulation and Analysis of Fire Evacuation (SAFE), includes two simulation federates, an existing Government-developed RTI, and an innovative tool for scenario specification. In Phase I, SPS will define a set of scenarios using the scenario specification tool, develop SOMs for the two federates, create a FOM to support each scenario, and specify a complete HLA-compliant system architecture for the Phase II demonstration of the SAFE. Phase I will also result in a plan for the FOM implementation.
