Abstract:

A software module will be developed that merges current taetical ocemnography capabilAties with mining mnd mine countereasures iHCM1 smp1oyment algorithmm to produce a geographically referenced plmnning and tactical decision aid The module structure will be fully c¿mpatib1e with ¿nce prediction decision tactical aids The module will also be designed to permit exploitation of tecbnological advances in the existing acoustic perform tactical ocemnography field such ms high-resolution digital charts and regional conflict area bathymetry and environmental data The module will be divided into mining and MCM submodules Each submodule will access tbe ocean- ographic database of a bost deeision aid Tbe mining suhmodule will design a minefield given sucb inputs as tbe task area types of mines-available target type effectiveness requirement and envirox -ental profi1e ¿e g water deptb bottam type and slope Current cbaracteristics sound velocity profile and salinity1 KmPloyment guidance will provide tbe best cnmbination of sucb factors as mine types position influence sensor settings and sbip count settings The MCM submodule will provide systmm emp1oyment guidance given the threat cbaracteristics and expected employment m¿eep onfidence requiraments and environmental cbaractaristics EKamples of tbe systmm-specific guid¿nce are influence ¿¿eep and sonar systmn lineup rec¿- ¿ndations mnd expected system performance d
