Abstract:
SHOT's innovative design for a deeply buried hardened target fuze incorporates the use of a non-inertial proximity sensor as a solution to the shortcomings of existing accelerometer -based smart fuze designs. The proposed sensor is compact, relatively low power, and can easily be adapted to a wide variety of proximity sensing problems in retrofit adaptable form factors. SHOT's proposed design provides the Air Force with the augmented sensing and algorithms needed to field more robust hard target fuzing solutions.
