Abstract:
A novel flat panel decontamination system (FPDS) which can emit simultaneously in both the ultraviolet-C (200 - 280 nm) and X-ray spectra will meet DoD bio-decontamination needs. This system builds on two recent innovations - UV-C nanophosphors developed at the University of Michigan and robust flat panel cold cathodes -- which make possible for the first time a compact, efficient single source for both these spectra.
