Abstract:
A novel flat panel decontamination system (FPDS) which can emit simultaneously in both the ultraviolet-C (concentrated at 250 - 260 nm) and X-ray spectra will meet DoD bio-decontamination needs. This system builds on two recent innovations -- UV-C nanophosphors and robust flat panel cold cathodes -- which make possible for the first time a compact, efficient single source for both these spectra.
