Abstract:
The atmospheric levels of CO2 have been increasing over the past two centuries due to human activities, and presently about three-quarters of the anthropogenic CO2 emissions are due to fossil-fuel combustion. By providing a new, alternative sensor, that is significantly lower cost than, but provides comparable performance to, existing sensors it will open the door for expanded monitoring of the carbon cycle and an enhanced understanding on which to base policy decisions regarding actions to be taken in order to slow, stop or reverse climate change that is being accelerated by human causes.
