Abstract:
Syntonics proposes to develop a conformal LOS/SATCOM FSS antenna system appropriate for UUVs. The antenna system will provide good performance both with vertically polarized line-of-sight (LOS) and circularly polarized satellite communication (SATCOM) signals by combining three distinct antenna technologies: frequency selective surfaces (FSS), active integrated antennas, and cavity-backed antennas. The proposed FSS antenna system will support all JTRS waveforms and be compliant with all future JTRS requirements. The antenna system can be conformal to a UUV hull or deployed on a buoy. Diversity antennas can be included for improved performance when awash.
