DOD / ARMY
Systems & Processes Engineering Corporation (SPEC) proposes a compact 3D imaging Terrain Mapping LADAR (TML) sensor and image processor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Development Center (CEERD). This compact LADAR sensor will leverage from LADAR system hardware and software components previously developed by SPEC. The initial integration and field testing of this TML system will facilitate the rapid development of the next generation hardware and software to better utilize this compact LADAR for 3D terrain mapping. Key features incorporated into the LADAR are; operation in rain, dust, fog and smoke; last pixel processing of the ground from obscuring weeds/grass; elimination of installation alignment, vehicle tilt and calibration errors. These features are designed to address lessons learned from the first set of field tests as well as allowing rapid vehicle to vehicle installation of the hardware without arduous alignment or cable installation.
