Systems & Processes Engineering Corporation (SPEC) proposes a LADAR for 3D change detection, consisting of a SPEC miniature LADAR combined with two Hyper X64T, high speed, low power, processors, a GPS and IMU to give a miniature, light weight, low power system capable of detecting small, 50mm changes, while driving down a road at highway speeds. Use of 3D LADAR images eliminate lighting, field of view and magnification errors, allowing discrimination of changed fixed objects and identification of moving objects for real time threat evaluation. Key components are the SPEC eye-safe LADARs, capable of 30Hz frame rate, 78 degree, 408 pixel diameter field of view and obtaining the first three objects in range and the Hyper X64T processor, capable of 24GFLOP at record breaking 64GFLOP/watt. Software consists of 3D image construction module, the SLAM (Simultaneous Location and Mapping) module which globally registers the image and DTMO (Detection and Tracking of Moving Objects) module to discriminate moving objects. These feed a change detection module whose output is displayed to the operator, overlaid on a visual image. These software modules must run at real time rates to be effective, making computational speed and power per GFLOP key parameters.
