Abstract:
The goal of the proposed Phase I research is to design a web-based training program to teach screening and brief intervention for substance abuse problems to primary care providers. Specifically, we will outline the didactic content to be covered; develop instructional design strategies, draft tools and supplements; and plan for a website to serve as a long-term resource. As part of the design process, we will consult with subject matter experts and conduct interviews with primary care clinic managers. We w ill also develop one prototype skills module and conduct formal usability testing of that module with a usability expert and end-users.
