Abstract:
As airborne systems and their missions become more complex, the F-22 ATF, it is important to test the coordinated operation of the navigation and targeting suites against advanced threats. The Air Force plans to build an evaluation facility of installed IR sensors in the Benefield Anechoic Chamber (BAC). The Phase I SBIR objective is to design an IR scene generator for prototyping demonstration in BAC during Phase II. In Phase I, we will first establish requirements for the models, software and hardware that comprise the scene generator that meets the Phage I objective. Second, we will assess the adequacy of the current state of the industry to satisfy these requirements. Third, we will develop the necessary techniques to meet the Phase I objective in those areas where current capabilities are inadequate. Finally, we will develop a design methodology and the design for the prototype scene generator. TSC has built imaging IR scene generators and IR simulators for interactive testing of installed IR sensors. Thus, we understand the requirements, applications, and technology involved in ragtime IR scene generation and can focus a larger portion of the effort on innovative remedies for a few remaining areas.
