Abstract:
The objective of this topic is to develop distributed simulations for collaborative engineering and virtual prototyping of avionics systems. In Phase I, Technology Service Corporation (TSC) and its subcontractor, Tecolote REsearch, Inc. (TRI), propose to assess, develop, and demonstrate a system for linking an existing radar performance model from TSC and an existing radar cost model from TRI under a common GUI shell. The GUI links via the Internet the remotely running models, and simulates the J-MASS architecture. Each model has been independently developed and validated. Each runs onits own computerplatform using unique software. This prototype Raar Design Evaluation (RADEVAL) too will allow the radar designer to readily trade off radar design, performance, and life cycle cost. The GUI will control inputs to and outputs from each model, be user friendly, and is basedon previous TSC work. Under Phase II, the RADEVAL tool willbe expanded to include additional models, including a pulse-by-pulse air-to-air ECM/ECCM model, an air-to-ground mapping model, an avionics reliability-cost program, a risk model, and digital signal and adata processor and transmit/receive module cost models. The prototype system wil then be brought into J-MASS compliance, and fully demonstrated.
