Abstract:
TSC proposes to develop a prototype of its WideBand Signal Processor (WBSP) adjunct processor concept for atmospheric noise suppression enhancement of the VLF/LF receive suite (MMRT receivers) of the E-6B TACAMO aircraft. This prototype will be integrated and tested at the TACAMO Systems Integration Lab (SIL) to validate the performance improvements indicated in Phase I simulations. The WBSP concept uses wideband sampling of the noise and interference waveforms of the VLF/LF band and adaptive filtering to eliminate narrowband interference signals. In the resulting noise waveform the clusters of impulsive atmospheric noise spikes can be detected and blanked while they are of short duration relative to the signals-of-interest.
