Computational Tools for Distributed Parameter Control Systems

The objective of this project is the design and development of a computer aided design system for distributed parameter systems. We propose to use an integrated set of tools including commercial CAD tools, symbolic processing tools, mesh generation software, Matlab/Simulink, and visualization software for 3D animated graphics for the development. The system will be tested using prototype problems in control of fluid flows using boundary controls, and charged particle beams using focusing control elements. We will build on our experience in the design and applications of CAD tools for structural mechanical and particle beam systems.
