Distributed CCA Components and Grid Services for Scientific Computing
76334-The Fusion Simulation Project aims to achieve a reliable predictive capability for fusion plasmas by integrating a set of legacy codes, each of which do a fair job of describing an isolated sub-problem. This project will enhance an existing integration framework to enable the use of distributed components and to facilitate the conversion of legacy codes into these components. Existing implementations of the Common Component Architecture framework will be used to develop the components and associated software that will: (1) enable distributed applications, (2) facilitate componentization of legacy codes, and (3) provide Grid integration. Phase I will demonstrate the functionality necessary to enable distributed applications using an existing framework. Also, a native array library will be used to componentize the legacy codes. Commercial Applications and Other Benefits as described by the awardeee: The development of this technology should generate sales of training and consulting services to customers working on componentizing legacy fusion codes. All of the software developed will be released as Open Source.
