Title:
QuAI - A Quality Assurance Infrastructure for Data-Centric Applications
Agency:
DOE
Contract:
DE-FG02-09ER85515
Award Amount:
$99,917.00
Abstract:
Data processing is becoming an integral part of modern experiments and should operate with the timeliness and quality necessary to each project. Consequently, there is a need for a customizable, resource-aware, and dynamic mechanism for the automatic dissemination of quality assurance data to the right parties at the right time. The Data Distribution Service (DDS) is a promising new technology that is expected to deliver these features, but it is not readily available for quality assurance applications. Therefore, this project will develop a Quality Assurance Infrastructure (QuAI) for the timely distribution of data between concurrent data processing applications. The infrastructure will consist of reusable core DDS entities along with application-specific extensions. The infrastructure technology will be applied to the upcoming Join Dark Energy Mission, which is cosponsored by DOE and NASA. Commercial Applications and other Benefits as described by the awardee: The software developed in this project should enable quality-assured distributed data processing for DOE experiments and NASA missions. The technology would form the basis for a consulting business to develop customized extensions of QuAI for scientific teams, industrial control systems, and mission critical military applications
