Abstract:
Infrared (IR) sensors have expanded rapidly into many defense and commercial markets. The testing of IR sensors requires the ability to generate extended IR scenes without flicker. The current state of the art in IR scene generation technology typically utilizes a `reverse bolometer' to create IR images using individually heated resistor elements attached to a cooling system. Toyon has devised a new technology that create IR scenes rapidly over a wide viewing surface and at relatively low cost. With wide dynamic temperature range, both intense objects such as flares as well as lower intensity clutter can be simulated rapidly an accurately.
