Automated Detection and Cueing
Agency / Branch:
DOD / SOCOM
Toyon Research Corporation proposes to further develop advanced algorithms, software, and camera interfaces for a low-cost, low-power, man-portable automated detection and cueing solution. During the Phase I effort, Toyon demonstrated accurate cueing to detected target locations, which can be used to notify a stand-off operator or high-resolution sensor to assess the detected objects. Toyon's automated detection and cueing solution is based on innovative algorithms and software--leveraging commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) imagers and processing hardware--to meet the requirements of high-confidence detection and cueing at ranges of at least 1,000 meters during the day and 500 meters at night. Extensive developmental testing will be performed under a variety of conditions, including stationary and moving camera scenarios. At the culmination of Phase II, the automated detection and cueing system will be demonstrated, and prototypes will be delivered to the government. Integration with other surveillance systems is also proposed to provide added value in terms of operator efficiency and improved effectiveness of stand-alone automated systems.
