Abstract

We propose to develop a dynamic sensor tasking module (DSTM) that will build schedules for AESA radars so that both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions can be supported by the same set of radars. The elements of our DSTM will include emulators for targets, sensors, and fusion systems; an objective function that evaluates candidate schedules; a task creator which defines the domain of feasible candidate sensor tasks at a given time; and an optimizer which searches through the domain of candidate tasks and picks the best schedule based on the output of the objective function. We will implement the DSTM in software and test and evaluate it using Toyon-developed simulations. We will interact with contractors that develop AESA radars as well as contractors that develop systems which use AESA radars so that we build a system which works with an accurate representation of the radars. We will demonstrate the operation of the DSTM to the government as well as designated contractors using an animated display of the DSTM operating in scenarios selected in cooperation with the government.
