Title:
Smart Optical Sensor Array for Hydraulic Fluidic Analysis
Agency / Branch:
DOD / ARMY
Contract:
W56HZV-04-C-0706
Award Amount:
$729,975.00
Abstract:
The objective of this SBIR program is to develop a robust sensing system to monitor the condition of hydraulic fluids. This system will operate reliably in a vehicular environment. The sensor will monitor the fluid for the presence of solid particulates and for trace water contamination. The sensing is done through optical means. To insure reliability the optical functions are integrated inside a block of fused silica. The fluid path is also integrated within the same fused silica block. The fluid condition status is provided to the equipment operator or the maintenance personnel via a wireless network and a graphic interface.
