Title: Integration Of Operational And Functional Behavioral Simulations
Agency / Branch: DOD / NAVY
Contract: N/A
Award Amount: $69,937.00

Recently, advanced simulations are being employed more and more by design teams to examine platform and system performance, functionality, dependability and other key design factors at various design stages and levels of design abstraction. However, in order to fully realize the potential contribution of simulation in the design process, an integrated Simulation Based Design (SBD) concept is required to efficiently and effectively integrate operational and functional/behavioral design simulations. This integration will allow the design team to examine the system under design within the context of the operational scenarios. This Phase I SBIR project will: (1) leverage ongoing research to refine a methodology for representing and analyzing complex real-time system designs at both the operational and system levels (2) leverage existing campaign level and system level simulation technology in developing an advanced integrated simulation capability, and, (3) demonstrate key aspects of an advanced simulation environment integrating operational and functional / behavioral simulations. The demonstration will test critical items in the integration approach and validate the feasibility of the Phase II project.
