Abstract:
Twinleaf proposes to build, test and deliver a pair of scalar atomic magnetometers that exceed the performance of existing sensors while also being dramatically smaller and lighter weight. The Twinleaf scalar magnetometer has projected sensitivity better than 100 fT Hz^(-1/2) in a sensor package just 6 cm in diameter, which is significantly more sensitive and smaller than the best scalar atomic magnetometers currently available. This level of performance is uniquely obtained using a high alkali-metal vapor density manipulated by a modulated single beam of light and controlled by an advanced signal processor. These sensors also promise superior gradiometer performance, especially in towed arrays, due to their fiber-coupled design and the ability to relocate the driver electronics far from the sensors.Small Business Information at Submission:TWINLEAF
