Abstract:

Unique Mobility, Inc. ("Unique") has invented a novel means of constructing a brushless DC motor, using conventional materials, which permits operation at high speed with high efficiency and high power output. Unique\'s primary focus is on the application of its motor technology to land vehicle drive systems. It is proposed that this technology be applied in a distributed electric drive system for a track laying or wheeled vehicle wherein each of the road wheels are separately powered and the motors and gear reduction are integrated and part of the road arm and wheel hub assembly. The road arm and wheel hub assembly could also be utilized from a common component point of view in a conventional main sprocket driven tracked vehicle.
