Abstract:

Universal Display Corporation (UDC) in collaboration with Princeton University is developing organic light emitting device (OLED) technology for use in low-cost, low-power full-color displays. Recently, we invented a new class of OLEDs based on organicphosphorescence and demonstrated record peak luminous efficiencies of 31 lm/W. This technology has great potential for use in bright, highly efficient backlights. Understanding the pixel and display-level lifetime issues (i.e. differential aging) thattoday limit the application of OLED technology for long-lived, high brightness backlights will be a central task in this program.In Phase II, we will build two prototypes.
