Abstract

A TOTALLY SPECIFIC, HIGHLY SENSITIVE, RAPID RESPONDING, ACCURATE, AND REPRODUCIBLE PHOSPHATE ELECTRODE PROBE WILL BEDEVELOPED. IT WILL BE BASED ON THE USE OF ENZYME SYSTEMS. THE ENZYMES ACID OR ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE AND GLUCOSE OXIDASEWILL BE COIMMOBILIZED ONTO AN OXYGEN OR PEROXIDE SENSOR; THIS WILL CONSTITUTE THE PHOSPHATE PROBE. A VARIATION OF EITHER OF THESE TWO SPECIES, DUE TO THE ENZYMATIC REACTIONS:GLUCOSE+O2+GLUCOSE OXIDASE-H2O2+GLUCONIC ACID PHOSPHATE+GLUCOSE+PHOSPHATASE-GLUCOSE-PHOSPHATE WILL BE PROPORTIONAL TO THE PHOSPHATE CONCENTRATION. THE ELECTRODE CONFIGURATION WILL BE OPTIMIZED TO GIVE A LONG LIFETIME, HIGH SELECTIVITY, GOOD ACCURACY AND REPRODUCIBILITY, AND SENSITIVITY. IT WILL BE CAPABLE OF OPERATION BOTH IN VIVO AND IN VITRO.
