Abstract

Vecna proposes the development of a Dynamic Scheduling Manager, designed to address the dyamics of a schedule for a medical facility as well as manage resources in any enterprise. The core technology used for the schedule optimization is Genetic Algorithms, which is a tool used by other researchers for dynamic job shop scheduling. By implementing an analogous approach, part of the Phase I work was a proof-of-concept for utilizing Genetic Algorithms for schedule management of a medical facility. It is proposed to use the algorithm for scheduling - the dynamic optimization for real-time resource allocation, as well as for planning - the allocation of resources to meet anticipated future demands. In addition, Phase I work also entailed the development of a System Design Document for the design, development, and deployment of the Dynamic Schedule Manger for enterprise-wide use by the Military Health System. Proposed work for Phase II consists of the tasks that will build on Phase I results and deliverables to develop the Dynamic Schedule Manager into a system that can be used in production.
