Abstract:
During this proposed work, a new lightweight, high strength permselective fabric suitable for shleters and other collective protection applications. This fabric will be woven from bicontinuous hollow polyester and polyolefin fibers and later treated withnanoporous permselective membrane coating. This coating will impart breathability to the fabric preventing moisture condensation within the shelter while also imparting CB resistance. Besides producing a lightweight shelter material, the fabric developedduring this program could find utility as surgical gowns, bandages for burn victims, low mass seat cushions for fuel efficient transportation vehicles.
