Abstract:
"Next-generation ballistic defense radar systems are likely to exploit large time-bandwidth waveforms for detecting, locating, imaging, discriminating and tracking targets of interest. In this proposal we present a preliminary analysis of potentialperformance degradataion due to such signals. We include a careful analysis of the resulting received signal that indicates that receiver and signal processor compensation must be applied in order to effectively utilize these types of radar echoes.Furthermore, we show that there are some artifacts, including localization artifacts, that will be severe enough so as to make accurate targeting a serious issue. The artifacts and compensation techniques are demonstrated in this proposal throughsimulation. The proposed effort will focus on fully developing the theory associated with these radar systems, as well as proposing and testing mitigating processes, and potential identification of new phenomenology associated with these next-generationsystems, that may be eventually exploited to the advantage of the Missile Defense Agency.NOTE: I've notice in the PDF version you've created from my word document, terms such as "omega-dot" are mistyped as omega, with some other superscript-and-overwritten dotted variable on top of it. Sorry for this confusion. Application to futurespaceborne MTI radar systems for both Government and Civilian purposes. New algorithms will be applicable to improving ge
