Abstract:

NAVAIR and other Department of Defense (DoD) entities have ongoing and increasing demand to create very large, highly detailed and accurate simulation databases for various applications including training and mission rehearsal (MR). Simulation databases are today created using manual and automation supported processes. The required turn-around time from the receipt of source images to the delivery of a database can be as short as eight (8) hours. This project will develop a fully automated production system to create such databases from suitable image data sources. The system will be scalable to meet the demanding throughput requirements of the DOD. During year one a working prototype will be implemented. After thorough review and performance analysis year two of the project will be used to enhance the system, add functionality and test the system against a wide range of use cases.
