Abstract:
Vexcel is developing a Measurement and Signals Intelligence (MASINT) system that can provide persistent surveillance over a selected geographic area. The system is an Unattended Ground System (UGS) that will be able to support a diverse variety of transducers (e.g. acoustic, seismic, magnetic, etc.). A unique feature of the system is a capability to clandestinely exfiltrate data from the local area. This development is currently supported by the Air Force Research Laboratory at Rome, NY as an SBIR Phase I contract. The proposed system is intended to provide bearing, rate, and time-of-event information in addition to a rudimentary classification capability. With customer support: [a] training data for classification will acquired for a select number of diverse vehicles - this data will also be processed to develop bearing and rate estimates, [b] the training data will be used to develop a base for classification, and [c] an experiment will be performed exercising the described MASINT system end-to-end from acoustic array sensor data acquisition to Message Processorgeneration of an output interpretable by an analyst.
