Advanced Evaluation and Design Software for Antennas with Radome and FSS Structures

This proposed work envisions a software suite complete with a graphical interface for modeling antennas with radomes and frequency selective surfaces deployed on complex platforms. Large finite arrays will be modeled efficiently. Nearby structures willalso be considered by innovative approaches. Interaction with the platform will be included through interface with high-frequency techniques. Design optimization tools will be an integral part of the software suite and will be incorporated with the user inmind. Interface with commercial schematic capture/gridding tools will be developed for modeling arbitrarily shaped structures. Graphical interfaces that offer stand-alone geometry/grid generation will be developed. The importance of antennas to commercialand governmental organizations can hardly be overstated. There are ubiquitous structures in every military and commercial vehicle, and thus there is a continuous and growing need for antenna design methods to develop a variety of new antennas whichcombine a variety of competing needs. Access to capable EDA tools will become the key competitive advantage for high-technology companies for the next 10 to 15 years. Thus, there is an increasing emphasis on design methods for designing sophisticatedmultifunctional antennas.
