Diamond-based Imaging Focal Plane Array

This project performs technical and market driven analyses of several architectures for diamond-based integrating detector arrays; identifies the superior architecture for UV, x-ray, gamma ray and energetic particle imaging; demonstrates charge transfer in a simple buried layer test structure and prepares a recommended design of an array for implementation on Phase II. Clear technical and advantages are shown over silicon-based devices. Use of a simple UV detector is recommended for material evaluation. Numerous military, industrial, medical, and scientific applications are identified that will lead to commercialization success.
