This proposal addresses the investigation of several methods to suppress RFinterference from own-ship RF transmissions that can affect the performance ofnext generation shipboard EW analysis systems. The principal area needing cositeRFI mitigation is thedirection finding portion of the EW system. The methodsinclude spatial rejection by adaptive array (sidelobe canceler) processing, adaptivecosite interference cancellation, adaptive tunable notch filtering, and basebandvideo processing. A program isproposed that will investigate alternative methodsin order to select a preferred approach for subsequent implementation and testing inPhase II.Permit accurate direction finding of potentially hostile emitters in the presenceof cosite, or remoteinterference in shipboard, terrestrial, or airborne EW systems.
